This little sign would be a fun and quick stitch for chicken lovers or farmhouse fans!
When I saw the Whitewashed Board fabric from #FabricFlair, I knew I had to stitch a chicken on it! I used a black and white color palette to play up the farmhouse trend, but you could just as easily swap my floss suggestion out with any color of floss that strikes your fancy. I do strongly suggest you use overdyed or variegated thread though, just to give the monochromatic color scheme a little extra visual interest. Complete each stitch before moving on to the next so that the variegation can really shine, and make sure your stitched rows all go in the same direction (side to side or up and down) for consistency.
PATTERN DETAILS:
This design suggests thread from Weeks Dye Works. It is stitched entirely with whole stitches. The model is stitched over 2 on 32 count Whitewashed Board Evenweave using 2 ply thread. The stitch count is 91w x 64h and measures approximately 5 3/4"w x 7"h on that fabric.
ON BUYING FLOSS:
I was able to finish the model with one skein of the suggested floss, but it was very, very close. If you choose to stitch this pattern on a different thread count or would like to give yourself a cushion for any mistakes, you may need 2 skeins of your selected floss color to complete the pattern.
