I wanted to fill a dough bowl with some witchy little pillows, so I designed this trio to do the job!
We have....
"If the Shoes Fit" (.PDF)
"Gertrude" (.PDF)
...and "Putting the Boo in Bougie" (.PDF)
They are sold separately but use the same DMC floss palette, so one skein in each color will give you enough mileage to stitch all three patterns.
The patterns call for whole stitches only except for Gertrude, who has a back-stitched mouth and nose. It's only 4 stitches, so not too scary! She is a nice witch ;).
The patterns also include both a black/white symbol page as well as a color page, so you can choose to stitch from the format that works best for you. Each design is stitched in a traditional Halloween palette of black, purple, green, orange, yellow and white. If the Shoes Fit features a girly witchy hat, witchy shoes and socks, jack-o-lanterns, spider webs, and a graphic element. Gertrude is standing under a starry sky between two jack-o-lantern topiaries. Bats are flying overhead.
Putting the Boo in Bougie features a graphic element, a witchy hat, witchy shoes, and a jack-o-lantern. Stars and bats set a night-time mood. (Some of you weren't quite sure what I meant by Bougie -- A definition of Bougie is "Extravagent, often to the point of snobbery.")
PATTERN DETAILS:
The models were stitched on 32 ct. Stormy Night Lugana (Zweigart) using 2 ply thread.
If the Shoes Fit is 43w x 61h, or 2 2/3"w x 3 5/6"h on that fabric. Gertrude is 45w x 62h, or 2 5/6"w x 3 7/8"h on that fabric. Putting the Boo in Bougie is 55w x 59h, or 3 1/2"w x 3 2/3"h on that fabric.
RECREATE THE LOOK:
Finish Fabric: The black finish fabric I used to make the pillow came from my stash and is discontinued, but one that looks very similar is by Kim Christofferson of Kimberbell Designs for Maywood Studios, SKU MAS8210-J.
Bow: I made two bows for each pillow and stacked them. I used 3/8" double-sided satin ribbon from Ribbon Boutique (Hobby Lobby) in Emerald (SKU 170910) and Purple (SKU 169524). All the ends were sealed with fray-check. The orange buttons came from my stash, so no SKU.
I like my pillows to nestle rather than spring, so after I lined them with sew-in interfacing, I filled them with walnut shells instead of polyfill. The finished pillows are sitting on Spanish moss in the dough bowls. The dough bowl I am using came from an Etsy Shop called McCains Furniture. It is the medium bowl in black. There was only 1 left at the time of this writing, but I'll link it here in case they get more in stock. One more time, here are the three pillows together. Hope you enjoy!
