Maple Hollow is here! You can find it in the Fall 2022 edition of Punch Needle and Primitive Stitcher Magazine. Here's a closer look... Finishing specifics will be updated when I release this one as a .PDF next year. PNPS will have it as an exclusive until then. Hope you enjoy!

  • THE WITCHY TRIO - .PDFs

I wanted to fill a dough bowl with some witchy little pillows, so I designed this trio to do the job! We have.... "If the Shoes Fit" (.PDF) "Gertrude" (.PDF) ...and "Putting the Boo in Bougie" (.PDF) They are sold separately but use the same DMC floss palette, so one skein in each color will give you enough mileage to stitch all three patterns. The patterns call for whole stitches only except for Gertrude, who has a back-stitched mouth and nose. It's only 4 stitches, so not too scary! She is a nice witch ;). The patterns also include both a black/white symbol page as well as a color page, so you can choose to stitch from the format that works best for you. Each design is stitched in a traditional Halloween palette of black, purple, green, orange, yellow and white. If the Shoes Fit features a girly witchy hat, witchy shoes and socks, jack-o-lanterns, spider webs, and a graphic element. Gertrude is standing under a starry sky between two jack-o-lantern topiaries. Bats are flying overhead. Putting the Boo in Bougie features a graphic element, a witchy hat, witchy shoes, and a jack-o-lantern. Stars and bats set a night-time mood. (Some of you weren't quite sure what I meant by Bougie -- A definition of Bougie is "Extravagent, often to the point of snobbery.") PATTERN DETAILS: The models were stitched on 32 ct. Stormy Night Lugana (Zweigart) using 2 ply thread. If the Shoes Fit is 43w x 61h, or 2 2/3"w x 3 5/6"h on that fabric. Gertrude is 45w x 62h, or 2 5/6"w x 3 7/8"h on that fabric. Putting the Boo in Bougie is 55w x 59h, or 3 1/2"w x 3 2/3"h on that fabric. WHERE TO BUY RECREATE THE LOOK: Finish Fabric: The black finish fabric I used to make the pillow came from my stash and is discontinued, but one that looks very similar is by Kim Christofferson of Kimberbell Designs for Maywood Studios, SKU MAS8210-J. Bow: I made two bows for each pillow and stacked them. I used 3/8" double-sided satin ribbon from Ribbon Boutique (Hobby Lobby) in Emerald (SKU 170910) and Purple (SKU 169524). All the ends were sealed with fray-check. The orange buttons came from my stash, so no SKU. I like my pillows to nestle rather than spring, so after I lined them with sew-in interfacing, I filled them with walnut shells instead of polyfill. The finished pillows are sitting on Spanish moss in the dough bowls. The dough bowl I am using came from an Etsy Shop called McCains Furniture. It is the medium bowl in black. There was only 1 left at the time of this writing, but I'll link it here in case they get more in stock. One more time, here are the three pillows together. Hope you enjoy!

  • SWEATER WEATHER - PAPER PATTERN

Last fall, a stitcher asked me to design a sweater weather fox. I made her wait a whole year, but this is the result! Everyone, I'd like you to meet Sherman. Sherman is one of two designs that come as a set in the Sweater Weather pattern. The other small that is included here is called... (can you guess?) ...Sweater Weather. One more time, these two designs come as a set in the paper pattern format. It's a 2-for-1! These coordinating designs feature pumpkins, leaves, acorns, and hearts. Sherman is dressed in a cozy argyle sweater, and he is nestled between matching arrangements of pumpkins, leaves, acorns and hearts. An autumn-themed border gives him somewhere to sit. Sweater Weather sits on a similar border, and was designed to complement Sherman in a display. Both designs are stitched in shades of orange, red, brown, green, and off-white. PATTERN DETAILS: The models were stitched on 14 ct. Vintage Smokey White Aida (Zweigart) using 2 ply thread. The stitch count for Sherman is 66w x 55h and the finished design measures approximately 4 3/4"w x 3 7/8"h when stitched on that fabric. The stitch count for Sweater Weather is 69w x 44h and the finished design measures approximately 5"w x 3 1/8"h when stitched on that fabric. The patterns call for whole stitches only. (Whole stitches = beginner friendly and Aida friendly!) The models were stitched with *threads from DMC, Weeks Dye Works, and Classic Colorworks. DMC equivalents are provided for the specialty threads. The pattern includes both a black/white symbol page as well as a color page, so you can choose to stitch from the format that works best for you. *These designs use the exact same shades as the Sweaters, Please pattern. If you are planning on stitching all 3 coordinating designs and would like to use the called-for specialty fibers, use the Sweaters, Please pattern as your floss guide. Buy the called-for floss on that pattern (and that includes 2 skeins of Williamsburg). You will need an additional skein of Carrot and an additional skein of Collards. Feel free to contact me if you need clarification! You will only need the additional skein of Carrot and Collards if you are stitching all three designs. WHERE TO BUY: Shops can purchase this pattern wholesale from Dinky Dyes. If your favorite stitchy shop does not have it in stock, let them know to order a copy in for you! RECREATE THE LOOK: Finish Fabric: The wine/tan homespun check is from Hobby Lobby, and the SKU is 487421. The hunter green homespun is also from Hobby Lobby, and the SKU is 601302. Cording: The cording I used as trim is 5mm jute rope off of a bulk spool. The particular spool I purchased is no longer available, but most craft stores have something similar. The 5mm size is my favorite. Bow: The beige ribbon is from www.shop5thstreet.com. It is1.5" wire-edge royal burlap ribbon in beige, and the item number is RG127801. The wine-colored bow is made from a 3/8" grosgrain ribbon from Ribbon Boutique at Hobby Lobby. The SKU is 1924679. All the ends were sealed with fray-check. I pulled the green buttons out of my stash. I have no idea where they came from originally (sorry, no SKU!) but the size is 7/8." The materials listed above are unique to this piece. The foundational supplies (the board, glue, batting, etc--stuff you can't see) are the same no matter what I am finishing. I use backing board, Aleens Tacky Glue, and Warm and White Craft Batting. I make needed cuts with a rotary cutter on a rotary cutting mat. One more time, here they are. Hope you enjoy!
