  • FRESH EGGS - .PDF

This little sign would be a fun and quick stitch for chicken lovers or farmhouse fans! When I saw the Whitewashed Board fabric from #FabricFlair, I knew I had to stitch a chicken on it! I used a black and white color palette to play up the farmhouse trend, but you could just as easily swap my floss suggestion out with any color of floss that strikes your fancy. I do strongly suggest you use overdyed or variegated thread though, just to give the monochromatic color scheme a little extra visual interest. Complete each stitch before moving on to the next so that the variegation can really shine, and make sure your stitched rows all go in the same direction (side to side or up and down) for consistency. PATTERN DETAILS: This design suggests thread from Weeks Dye Works. It is stitched entirely with whole stitches. The model is stitched over 2 on 32 count Whitewashed Board Evenweave using 2 ply thread. The stitch count is 91w x 64h and measures approximately 5 3/4"w x 7"h on that fabric. ON BUYING FLOSS: I was able to finish the model with one skein of the suggested floss, but it was very, very close. If you choose to stitch this pattern on a different thread count or would like to give yourself a cushion for any mistakes, you may need 2 skeins of your selected floss color to complete the pattern. • A HEARTS AND FLOWERS VALENTINE - .PDF

Celebrate Valentine's Day with this coordinating Valentine cross-stitch set that includes TWO patterns -- "Cupid" and "XOXO"! These cross-stitch patterns use the same simple color palette that includes shades of pink and green. The centerpieces on both patterns are surrounded by coordinating floral embellishments. In "Cupid," a cherub is shooting his heart-shaped arrow. In "XOXO," I substituted a rosebud-embellished heart for the O to give the pattern a little extra Valentine love. PATTERN DETAILS: These designs suggest only DMC threads. They are both stitched entirely with whole stitches. The "Cupid" model was stitched over 2 on 28ct Lambswool Linen using 2 ply thread. The stitch count for "Cupid" is 70w x 80h, which makes the finished design size approximately 4 5/8"w x 5 5/8"h when stitched on 14ct or equivalent. The "XOXO" Model was stitched over 2 on 28ct Flax Linen using 2 ply thread. The stitch count for "XOXO" is 67w x 58h, which makes the finished design size approximately 4 5/8"w x 4"h when stitched on 14ct or equivalent. #Starrynightsstudio did the beautiful model finishing for both of these models. Starry Nights Studio also stitched XOXO in red and white and mounted it on this little red bucket. Isn't that the cutest!?

PATTERN DETAILS: This design suggests DMC threads only. It is stitched entirely with whole stitches. The model is stitched over 2 on 32 count Vintage Stormy Night Lugana using 2 ply thread. The stitch count is 121w x 62h and measures approximately 7 1/2"w x 3 3/4"h when stitched on 32 count/equivalent. ON CHOOSING FABRIC: This pattern includes a lot of white that will not show up well if you stitch it on a light-colored fabric, or even a mid-tone fabric with a lot of light-colored mottling. I recommend you go for mid-tone fabric or darker. THINKING OF MIXING IT UP? It would be so easy to swap out the two shades of teal for red and green if you wanted to give this piece a Christmas vibe! Alternatively, you could substitute two shades of any color that match your decor. Happy Stitching!

  • THE NAUGHTY LIST - .PDF

"It's all fun and games until Santa checks the naughty list" Display this playful cross-stitch design during the holidays for a red and green reminder that Santa knows if you've been naughty or nice! PATTERN DETAILS: This design suggests threads from Weeks Dye Works and DMC. It contains only whole stitches. The model is stitched over 2 on 32 ct. 18th Century Brown linen. A LITTLE FABRIC ADVICE: When you are choosing fabric for this project, make sure you pick one that is dark enough to make the white snow stand out. I chose fabric that gave a burlap vibe, but I could also see this design looking fun on a black or charcoal gray background with the suggested threads, or even on a mid tone gray with frosty winter pastel threads. One more time, here it is!

  • I LOVE FALL - .PDF

I love white pumpkins in soft shades of whites and creams, and so I designed this cross stitch pattern to play up the white pumpkin trend. However, it only uses 2 shades of thread for the pumpkins, so it would be easy to swap out the whites with a dark and light pumpkin orange for those of you who prefer a more traditional fall color scheme. As stitched, the pattern uses shades of white, peach, green and brown. It is embellished with pumpkins, leaves, hearts, as well as a touch of gingham check. The full text of the design reads, "I Love Fall Most of All." PATTERN DETAILS: This design suggests threads from Weeks Dye Works and DMC. It contains only whole stitches. The model is stitched over 2 on 28 count Natural Linen using 2 ply thread. The stitch count is 117w x 44h and measures approximately 7"w x 2 1/2"h. FABRIC TIP: The light pumpkins will not show well on a light-colored fabric or a fabric with a lot of light-colored mottling. When you are choosing fabric for this project, make sure you pick something that is dark enough to make the white and peach threads stand out. THREAD TIP: The suggested peach thread from Weeks Dye Works has some very light-colored variegation that almost reaches the same shade as the white pumpkins. When you stitch the first row or two against the white thread, you may not see the peach stand out very well. Hang in there and keep stitching! As you add rows and the thread moves through the variegation, the peach will stand out much better. Have a wonderful autumn!
